Hey all,
I have a newer tumblr page and am going to continue posting there. I hope you add me at chiptilden.tumblr.com
The photos will continue and I will include small tidbits to ‘contextualize’ the photographs I post.
I hope you join me there.

I wish I owned the whole top floor of my building. The light is wonderful.

Walking Home, (South Second Street and West Aztec Avenue), Gallup, New Mexico - 04 January 2012
I remember all the walking I had to do when I was a child. I remember all the hitchhiking that was necessary just to get to school or home, etc.. Having a car was a luxury way back then, and it wasn’t for a long time did my mother get one. Even then, there were many times there was no money for gas, so no car. Now, not having a car is a luxury to me because it affords me more because I exercise more, see more, etc. Funny how time changes things.

Nowhere Bar on 14th Street, New York City, New York - 13 Friday/January 2012
My friends Julien (from Paris) and Jordan (now from NYC) at Nowhere Bar. It was very nice for me to have friends of mine who have not known each other meet and actually clique.

The suthor of chippycentric, chip tilden, Ithaca, New York - circa another lifetime ago
For you Cornellians, this polaroid was taken of me in the Arts Quad mid-way. You know that place, the statue across the other statue where those steps are painted. Me? I have no clue about who made the image (it’s a Polaroid!!!). The significant part of this photo and the intent of documentation was that I had recorded that I was being ‘Indian’ (Navajo) by the long-haired thingy. I recall how totally and completely uncomfortable it was to have all the heat on my head. Well, it was Ithace in the summer. Now, I’m just grateful the energy I had then for things is now a little more focused.
Sun setting in Church Rock, New Mexico - 07 January 2012
It was sooo quiet where I was standing as I watched the last of the day’s light bathe Church Rock, creating a great and peaceful splendor. No crickets, etc. - it’s winter and freezing! Everything seemed just right then, as it should be.

In front of the New York City Public Library, 40th Street and 5th Avenue, New York, New York - 20 December 2011
A page from one of Don McCullen’s books published in 1979. I first saw his work in 1986 and loved it. Still love it today. One severely potent photographer!

Seen at 66th and Columbus, New York City, New York - 12 December 2011
The color of his eyes was a golden/green and had a quality of iridescence almost startling. While he walks this earth changing the day of those he looks at or those who see him, I feel fortunate I have this memento. I doubt I will ever see him again, and here he is, eyes nearly closed, and all I can see now is the shimmering of light playing in those two orbs.

The daylight in New York City in the late fall and winter can be especially striking.

Separated at birth, 1 Train, New York City, New York - 11 December 2011
It took several subway stops/minutes before I realized that she knew only one of them. The likeness of the two guys was so striking. More than their looks was their body language; it was if they were identical twins. The couple, woman and the guy standing, got off the train at Times Square. I wish I had to sense of mind at the time to point out to them what I saw. Too late now, for now.

I cannot read the writing on this ad (I think) but it did register in my mind that this just looked lushious.
